Brizzi Investigating China, Part 2
As the first installment of "Brizzi's Experience Investigating China" details, my job as Senior Investigative Counsel to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform focused on hunting down alleged illegalities in campaign fundraising efforts coordinated by the Clinton White House and the Democratic National Committee. Specifically, whether foreign governments attempted to influence our elections and U.S. policy.

I traveled throughout Asia with a team of investigators, formerly FBI and CIA, attempting to track down the origin of these illegal funds. The Chinese government did nothing other than pay lip-service to our investigation refusing to grant our team visas to enter Hong Kong, Beijing and other Chinese centers.

The Chinese government was uncooperative, blocking access to witnesses and other relevant evidence. In fact, in a coordinated effort, 94 witnesses either took the Fifth Amendment or fled the country to avoid testifying – serious evidence that campaign finance crimes such as money laundering, masked contributions and other violations of law occurred across national borders.

One of our responsibilities was to determine whether large contributors to the Democrat Party influenced approval for two U.S. companies to transfer ballistic missile technology to China - at a time when those same two companies were being investigated by a federal grand jury for illegally exporting similar technology to China. This type of technology is called "dual use" meaning that the technology can be used for both peaceful and military applications.

The acquisition of "dual use" technology is a Chinese strategy that goes back to the late 1980s. That's when the FBI first identified China as "the most active foreign power engaged in the illegal acquisition of American technology" and what's responsible for turning Beijing into a global military power.

A bipartisan congressional inquiry found that Beijing stole U.S. design data for nearly all elements needed for a major nuclear attack on the U.S., such as advanced warheads, missiles, and guidance systems. The Clinton administration accepted millions of dollars in foreign illegal campaign contributions from China in exchange for this technology, a massive totalitarian country determined to eclipse the U.S. as a world superpower.

China is not our friend. Over the next month, I will detail for you my firsthand experiences dealing with the Chinese government's agenda. We all have a duty to be as informed as possible. We need to hold China accountable. If you agree, please forward this email to a few friends.

Stay safe. Stay vigilant.

-Carl
